Centre for Aviation Medicine hosts CASSOA Board Meeting
18th November, 2022. The 60th CASSOA Board meeting was held in Nairobi Kenya on 17th of November 2022. The meeting was attended by Director Generals of Civil Aviation from EAC Partner States and a Regional Director of ICAO ESAF office based in Nairobi, Kenya. This was the second physical meeting since the pandemic and was chaired by Director General Uganda Civil Aviation Authority, Mr. Fred K. Bamwesigye.
The 60th Board was held in the Centre for Aviation Medicine (CAM) located in Nairobi, Kenya. CAM office was built with support from the Republic of Kenya and will soon be officially handed over to CASSOA.
The main objectives of CAM following its establishment are;
- To enable/assist/improve EAC Partner States’ compliance to the implementation of the Aviation Medicine related ICAO Standard and Recommended Practices and EAC harmonized regulations and Technical Guidance Materials.
- To assist Partner States improvement on the level of implementation of Public Health Emergency Preparedness and Response.
The Agency is governed by a Board of Directors that is constituted by the heads of Civil Aviation in the Partner States, the CASSOA Executive Director and Civil Aviation experts, one from each Partner State, nominated by the respective Ministers responsible for Civil Aviation. CASSOA Board is mandated to exercise general control of the performance and affairs of the Agency and give general directions on the implementation and achievement of the objectives and functions of the Agency.
