Inter – RECs Meeting (SBAS Module)
20th June, 2018. An inter – RECs meeting on the review and validation of the economic impact assessment studies in view of the creation of Eastern Africa SBAS Module concluded in Dakar, Senegal.
The meeting was organized as a follow up of the first meeting held in Kampala from 17th to 20th April 2018 where the recommendations were adopted in view of further improvement of validated documents especially on the economic studies where data was missing both on Aviation and Non-Aviation. The meeting was organized as a sub committee of the Task Force agreed during the Kampala Meeting
EAC CASSOA was represented by Manager, Air Operations Capt. Immaculate Apolot. Senior Officials from IGAD, COMESA, AFCAC and CAAs (Burundi, Kenya, Tanzania) were also in attendance.
The Opening Remarks were delivered by the Director of JPO who recalled the objective of the meeting as a follow-on the action plan of Kampala and complement the economic assessments. He also presented the methodology of the workshop and the agenda.
The workshop was organized around the following thematic sessions;
- Follow up of Kampala
- Financial aspects
- Outcomes of the Studies
- Validation of structure of benefits and costs
- Validation of Parameters
- Validation of Data
AFCAC acting Secretary General highlighted the importance of the module studies as an input to the Africa wide on-going CBA and strategy studies.
The meeting ended on 13th June 2018 with a number of resolution put in place as a way forward towards the Creation of Eastern Africa SBAS module
